Your name says you're in CT have you tried there for jobs? MOST new RN positions ARE for nights. Some of the training will be during days, but experienced RN's usually get the better assignments. It's not impossible to get days. Depends on how open you are as to the area of nursing you're willing to work in. Ask which openings have those types of hours. And I graduated in May 2005 also and my first stint in ICU didn't work out and NOONE has told me I need a refresher.......thats only for experienced nurses returning after 10 or 15 yrs of not having worked.......
Sorry can't help with hospitals.......

Recently I just got my RN license. However, I graduated from nursing school back in MAY 2005. I will be commuting out of state to Ny. Currently, I have been unsuccessful finding the right job for me. I want to start in MED/SURG however, all the hospitals in my area only have Night shifts available and I have done night shifts before in nursing school and I just cant do it. It seems as if those shifts are basically leftovers. Apparetly I missed my boat back in August and someone filled in the position b/c I didnt pass my NCLEX the first time. I think a new nurse should start out on day or evening shifts. I applied to hospitals mainly in the Westchester area, b/c it is within my area. I am really not interested in Manhatten/BK/Queens area. My question is it wrong for being very selective? and I have a feeling that I may have to relocate somewhere farther in order to find the right job for me, If so Does ANYONE know what hospitals that pay for relocation, excluding NYC? and Lastly, b/c I graduated in May 2005, do I have to take a refresher course?which I hope not b/c I dont think it is needd in my case.
