Help, New Job Offer!

Hi, back in Feb I was verbally offered a GN position at a PEDS hospital on a PEDS speciality floor that I have a strong interest in. Well today, 11 weeks before graduation, the HR calls me to inform me that I have been choosen to work on a brand new PEDS limited stay/post-op unit they're opening. She stated that only a handful of GN's were hand choosen by management for this floor and that I should be honored to be picked. Here's the problem, I know what I don't like in nursing and while I love kids, I've never really being in the post-op pt's. I've all ways seemed to prefer medical pts. I told her this, but she wants me to think my decision through first. I would still spend approx. 6 months on the speciality floor I was hired onto, and then go to limited stay when it opens in the spring. Honestly, if I can't work speciality (which wouldn't surprise me if they're downsizing), I'd rather be in the ER (yes, they hire GN's).

What would you all do? Accept a position on a brand new floor or ask for something else?

if you prefer medical over surgical, i would stick with medical. if you decide you want ot explore the surgical side you can always change.
