I am pregnant, due 1 month before starting an Accelerated BSN program! Unplanned pregnancy, first pregnancy. No help from the father, don't want him involved either. I have a place to live with a friend for free, but so many debts. I can't do it without day care, because my family won't help me. But I have no money for day care! And I know the program will be full time in school and most likely work too.
Does anyone know any creative solutions to day care? PLEASE HELP!

I do think that doing nursing school the first year of life, may actually be easier too. I'm a single mom, and have basically been on my own since my son was 8wks old. I am just starting nursing school next week
but in many ways I do think it's going to be harder on ds.
Ds seriously slept for the first three months of his life, so if I were in class during parts of the day, he'd have been none the wiser. Then as he got a little older and more active, he still took two, loooong naps during the day and was asleep by 7 or so every night.
Now, on the other hand he's 3 1/2 and doesn't take any naps
and is very affected by my absence. He's old enough to really verbalize his desire to have me home and when we're home together, it's so, so much tougher to study or do things that require focus compared to when he was say 6mo and he'd be entertained by his exersaucer for 45min.
You've been given some great advice about resources. I'm using Headstart while I'm in school this year, and discounted day care rates, WIC, and if I can qualify food stamps. Every little bit helps and my ex husband is very hit or miss on payments (he's actually $7500 behind on child support and child care at this point:banghead: I'm doing a LPN program this year, and going straight into a RN program next year. It will take me close to two years, but when it's all done then I'll be able to have the flexible schedule with my son that I want.
Congratulations and good luck to you!!!! If you want to stay in touch, I'd love that. I'm always looking for other single moms who are doing this.
