Hi everyone.
I just graduated from MSMC with a BSN and just got my IP. I will be taking the NCLEX at the end of June 2008 since I am doing Kaplan this month. Does this sound good? I wanted to start applying so I got an interview at LACUSC and I am so anxious. Any advice?
I am currently a student worker at HARBOR UCLA and my nurse manager wants me to stay in the Telemtry floor, but I dont see myself doing this...but I want the medsurg experience. Should I just stay here since I know the floor, or shoudl I venture out to another hospital?
THANKS!!!

What areas are you interested in? Have you applied for any jobs? I would go ahead and start applying for jobs, most of the people I graduated with had employment lined up prior to graduation. If you are happy on the floor where you work now, there's a good argument for staying there, but if you aren't happy you may as well see if you can get something else - nursing is a great field, you can always change your mind later if something is not for you.

I'm curious about how long to wait to take the NCLEX also. I finished Kaplan a few weeks ago, but have been less-than-stellar about studying since that time!
I would suggest you at least look around and interview for other positions. It's one way to either see something new and interesting or to rule out alternative options.
I too, think there's a good argument for staying somewhere that's "comfortable", but if you don't think you'll love it, that might be a good argument for at least looking around.
Best wishes!
