Hey guys, I have recently graduated with my Bsc in general nursing and was placed on a med/surg floor that has a mixture of pediatrics and psychiatry, however neither of these are my speciality desire. I love the emergency room and enjoyed it alot while I was trainingas a student but now that i'm a RN at a private institution, the ER is not a place that I will enjoy since its boring and slow paced.
I prefer being up and about in a fast paced environment which is why I love trauma but there is just one problem. I have been trying to locate a post grad course or a school that deals soley with specialized nursing specfically in trauma/critical care. All courses that i've found so far are short term for no more than six weeks and require persons who have had more than six months working the ER. I am looking for a course that has a well defined curriculum, runs for a suitable period of time eg (>1 year), involving theoretical and practical knowledge, begins with the basic then advance and a certificate upon completion.
This has always been my desire and would really like to persue it in the near future Any help would be greatly appreciated. tnx guys!
