Hi everyone, I'm an LPN living in MD. Does anyone know of a good LPN to RN private school in MD or VA? I would apply to Community College, but the time limits on my pre-req's have long gone. So my best bet is a private school. Any know of any, or have attended any?

University of Phoenix is where I am taking my LPN-BSN. Expensive but geared toward working adults.

Have you actually spoken to the director of any local CC programs? We have so many great, inexpensive programs here. I experience most everything in academia is negotiable. I got three local schools to ok my 20+ year old A&P1 and talked my way into Statistics without taking a college level algebra. Good luck.

I have Jules, I have. I went to the CC college around my area and they all tell me I either have to take this or take that over cause my pre-req's is nearly 10years and being that 5 years is the limit on most pre-req's. I'm just tired and refuse to take anything over. I struggled through A&P, Micro....and the list goes on. But I still managed to be a 3.0 student. So right about now, I think a private LPN-RN program is the best thing for me.

Is this an online program or do you actually go to a classroom. Cause I know they have online courses that are offered....but I would prefer in class lessons.

They have both on-line and in class options. Not all states have the on-line option though. I live in AZ and we only have the classroom option. I go one night a week from 6-9 and when we have clinical rotations I also go for that on sat for either 8, 10, or 12 hours. The clinical rotations last for 7 weeks and then you go back to just one day a week in theory. It is expensive but I do work and parent full time so I love the schedule. All of my pre-reqs were old too so I opted for this route and am happy I did. Perhaps you can get some tuition reimbursement through your job to help lessen the cost. Also you do meet with your study group every week but I joined one where every one agreed to meet online due to different schedules. I noticed a lot of people did this. We just email back and forth re: our group assignments and it seems to work out fine. Let me know if you have any other questions.

what is the cost per credit and do they offer financial aide or do you have to pay straight out of pocket. Also, are you going part time?, cause 6-9p one day a week sounds like a part time to me; and I'm sure they compact alot of information within those 3 hours.

Question for you....I just checked out U. Phoenix page and I don't see any LPN-Rn program listed. I see mostly MS program and Rn-BSN program. Which program are you doing.

They do offer financial aid. I applied for it with the fafsa like any other school. It is a full time program geared toward working adults. So basically you are in class one night a week but are responsible for assignments and reading during the course of a week like any other program. Also during clinical rotations you will have 1 night of class per week but also be responsible for picking out a pt, writing care plans, and attending your clinical rotation at the facility on Sat for either 8, 10. or 12 hours. The program should be listed under LPN-BSN. It will take approximately 2 years to complete and is approximately 18-20 grand by the time you reach completion. You will be responsible for buying your uniform and any textbooks you want a hard copy of. The books and assigned readings are all done in e-format so if you want an actual book you will have to purchase it. I would try calling your local UOP and inquiring as maybe they dont offer the LPN-BSN in your area.

wow, 18-20 grand for LPN-BSN. That's a whole lot of ****. Even with financial aid, I don't think they'll give a whole lot. How much did you get?I'll keep on looking around and if I find something cheaper.....than I'll go for that, if not, than I'll just go for UOP, that's if they have the LPN-BSN track in my area. Thank a bunch:)
