Hey everyone,
I am currently trying to enroll into a BSN program. I am a recent graduate (this past May 2010), BA in Spanish, and I am taking some pre. req.s for nursing this fall semester. I studied at UPR, Rio Piedras this past spring 2010 and I am interested in going back to PR for nursing. Simply because it is inexpensive and I can improve my spanish! I have been searching the threads here for info about Universidad Metropolitana's program for nursing (the English option) and I have not really found anything. I have really only found info about universidad Interamericana which is kind of weird . But Is anyone a current student or graduate or about to enter the program at UMET (Universidad Metropolitana)? I have emailed the director of the program some questions and should hear from them sometime this week. But could someone tell me of their experience with the classes at this university, finding a place to live, if you like the nursing program, what campus you attend to take the classes, what the clinicals are like, earning your BSN and working in PR or moving back to the states, how helpful are the professors, how difficult are the classes, etc . I currently live in westchester NY and it is just too expensive to go to nursing school in the states in my opinion and I do not want to wait on a waiting list and put a hold on becoming an RN. If anyone has information or experience I would really appreaciate it!!!! THANKS!!!

This are really good questions, most of them i really need to know as well! I'm also looking at that school for the Fall 2010 program. Its kinda hard getting info from their website. I heard a couple of people saying the best thing to do would be to visit the school itself (i know, easier said than done.) But when you find out those answers can you PLEASE let me know. That would be a big help... Thanks!

My question is, about jobs, once we get out of these schools in PR, will we be able to get jobs back in the states. Would love to hear from any graduates from either of these schools that have found jobs back in the states?!

I'm sure you can. many nurses that go back to the states from pr get hired. you would just have to take the NCLEX.

I would love to know the answers to all these questions as well. I currently live in PR I went to the UMET earlier this week and the staff was very pleasant. I did admissions interview and signed up for classes all in the same day which left me in shock that the process was so quick. Only the UMET located in bayamon offers the bilingual program. I live about 2 hours driving distance from the UMET bayamon, so I am going to be looking for a room to rent because I just cant afford an apartment by myself.

Hi there how are classes going? I'm seriously considering going to school just started the application process.. any information you can give me would be great thanks a million... :)
Just a quick update! I currently attend UMET and I love it! The classes are well equipped and class size is small which I like because you get more out of it (I've taken anatomy in fl where there are over 150 students in a HUGE room not so fun). The professors are amazing and most are from the states. I know one was a military nurse. We do clinicals in the VA so far for adult care 1 & 2
