Here is my issue. I work in an LTACH. In the last 6 months the pt care has decreased. Pt census has decreased. Staff moral has decreased. Pt tube dislodgements and falls have increased. Hourly rounding and quality 2 hour turns aren't getting done consistently. I have spoken multiple times to the CNO. All that results is more charting for the floor nurses. It is horrible. What can I do to affect positive change in this establishment? The CEO is an interim CEO who is friends with the CNO. I feel the CNO is the source of the problems. It is a national corporation. Should I write a letter to the CEO of the company? I don't want to get myself labeled or blackballed within the company. What can I do?

I feel for you! Been there, got the t shirt! I tend to agree with the first poster but for now see if there is anywhere that you can change procedure to give better patient care such as assigning 2 to help each other go to get the turns done, etc. Do write that letter but make sure you are discussing the problem, not criticising the CNO or the company just stating the problems and what you feel might help with a solution.
