Help, LPT Scored 85 on CDCR assesment Exam?

Published

Hello, I am a newly Licensed Psychiatric Technician who scored 85% on the CDCR assesment exam. Does anyone know how likely I am to get an interview/ hired on with the state with no Work experience? I'm having a hard time finding a job being that the State hospitals aren't hiring and there's limited Jobs available at the prisons for us AND the fact that there is so much competition out there. Any feedback is appreciated :)

Hey there. You may want to try to get some experience working with a registry. Some of the facilities may require 1-2 years experience (Coalinga required that in 2010) however I'm sure things have changed. Some of the registry companies are CareNow, Maxim, Solvere. Just search for staffing companies that employ PTs. In regards to your score for CDCR... You may and may not be contacted. If you go on the CA State Personnel Board's website you can search for PT jobs and also sign up for notification e-mails when new positions open up. When filling out applications make sure that you put the correct information in the correct fields (if you submit a paper app which is supposedly better than online. The online system may be less reliable). If you are unsure where to put anything... contact the recruiter's phone number so that they can help you. Also don't ever feel discouraged by the people you may get on the phone because not all are pleasant. Applying for positions are hit and miss. Just be persistent and do your research. Good luck! If you have any other questions... don't hesitate to ask :)

Awesome!! Thank you Soo much!! I'm going to look into those registries!!! :)

If you don't mind going up to Stockton they will be finished with it next year and they will need 400 techs. If i were you fatten up your resume with any extra certifications offered for your profession especially BLS and if you can get some registry work it will help. Keep checking for when the jobs will be posted it will be a few months before opening.
