Help Loving Care agency/Links2care in PA Questions

I started working for them 8 months ago and know I was told you would get a raise with your 90 day eval. So question is, are you supposed to get one at your 90 day evaluation? Also eventhough you are not supposed to talk about your wage, there have been a handful of LPN's come right out and tell me how much they are being paid and am not happy because they are either making what I am now or more and I am an RN. Do you think it is too soon to ask for a raise? I need help on how to approach this. I don't even know what a respectable wage is for RN's here. I am new to the state and took the job because of the economy not leaving many out there. But now wish I would have researched this before hand.

Look at employment websites, sometimes a job listing will give a wage for the position. Ask around with other RNs. Ask the LPNs when they bring up the subject of wages, sometimes they will know what an RN at a particular job makes. If you are unhappy that you are being paid the same as the LPNs, then talk to the employer. But don't be surprised if they tell you that your pay rate is based upon the reimbursement rate for the case. They also might lie and say that all the nurses on that particular case are being paid the same. Good employers will pay an RN more than LPNs, even if it is only $2 more per hour.

I've never experienced a raise at 90 days, except for my first nursing job and that was more for passing boards than just being there 90 days.

As far as what other nurses are making--do they have more experience than you? Is this a Medicare-certified agency where you're the RN doing SOC, ROC, discharges, and case managing? If not and the other LPNs have years more experience than you, I don't necessarily see the problem.

The first job that I had as an RN was in a long-term care facility as a house supervisor. Although I was an RN and in charge, most, if not all of the LPNs made way more than I did because they had years (decades) more experience. I had no problem with that then and don't have a problem with it now.
