Nurses General Nursing

Specializes in CICU.

I applied for a CICU position (new grad) and was offered the position (YEAHHHH!!). :yelclap: On my application I forgot to put down 4 months where I worked at a restaurant on my work history. I truly did not remember. The restaurant isn't even open anymore. Do you think that would be considered as "falsification"? I really do not want to miss out on this opportunity over a silly mistake!!! :smackingf

I work at a company that does background screenings. This would not be considered falsification. It has nothing to do with nursing so I wouldn't expect that they would even be worried about it. I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy your new job!

Oh, forgot to mention that typically they wouldn't even run a search on this employment even if you had wrote it down because it isn't open anymore. :)

Specializes in geri, med/surg, neuro critical care.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it...I never put all of my work-related experience on an application/resume--too time consuming! I only list the positions that directly relate to Nursing...even without that particular position listed, the hospital must've thought you're worth it!

:balloons: Congratulations on the job...good luck! :balloons:

Thanks everyone. I will let you know how it goes!!!

If it is not nursing related I do not list it. Not trying to hide anything but gee wiz. It hardly relates. As a new grad there was even a Nursing Job I did not list. And still do not. Only stayed about 6-8 weeks and then left. Bad unsupportive hospital. Wrote my resignation and made it immediately effective. Then went across town and applied to where I wanted to work.

As I arrived for my interview I was spotted by the charge nurse (someone I knew). She said hey I heard so and so (who worked at the old hosp) say you were working at XYZ hospital in ICU. I told her I had been considering it but decided against it.

The manager who was to interview me heard and did not question this. I got the job.

I do not have every job I ever worked on my resume. First, it is natural as you age for older jobs to fall off the resume. Nobody wants to read about what you were doing 30 years ago. Nor do they care that I worked two months as a temp secretary between nursing jobs. Plus, they are really looking for what you have done and what you can bring to the job. My header on my resume states, "Relevant Nursing Experience." I put down the jobs, within a reasonable chronological progression, that help explain me as a nurse and point out what my path has been. If someone wants to ask me about a gap, I can explain it. I would never put anything down that I didn't do, however.
