HELP ITIN to get hard copy of RN License in CA?

Help! Is true that if you send Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) to CA BON you can get your Hard copy of your RN license? My friend told me that BON will give it.. I'm a NCLEX passer and I'm a tourist now in the U.S. and of course I don't have my SSN. and are they gonna disregard the 3 yr alotted time to produce the SSN and will never take the NCLEX again? Help please

One cannot endorse to VT if there is no license issued. Endorsements assumes that there is a license. With taking the exam for CA and no SSN#, then no license is issued and there is no verification on the website for CA.

One must use the License for Examination application and then have CA submit the passing score. But would not do a thing at this time as the VT licenses also have expiration dates. No reason to do anything before the last eight months or so on the letter.

Or you just continue to pay more fees and for no reason.

But that is not the process that is to be followed and VT has every right to deny the application when one is sent for endorsement as there is no license to endorse.

It is the same requirements that need to be followed for using the correct application called the License by Examination application; so why use something that can get sent back to you? That just makes no sense at all and with many of the states now tightening their requirements, sending in the wrong application can take months if they care to be picky about it.

i just wnat to clarify that WE RECIEVD already the license from vermont because i dont have ssn in california , its very easy to apply for it and tey will issue so far theres no problem in doing it my frineds have done it too and we all recieve our license in less than a month we use the endorsemnt form.

CA wants to know that you can work legally in the US. Having the ITIN# does not permit one to work, and you also need to have a very good reason as to why the US should assign you the ITIN# as well.

There are reasons that these rules are in place and trying to circumvent them does not stand well with many.

I would not make any attempt to what you are wishing to do, it can only backfire and cause you much grief in the future.

CA states only the SSN#, it makes no mention of the ITIN#. They are also of another series of numbers and cannot be substituted for one another. If they would accept the ITIN#, then they would post it on their site.

Well you have a point there, I guess I need to find alternative in order to solve this ssn issue.. But do you know any alternative solution for this problem? thanks alot.... more power:wink2:

Dave, just want to ask how to endorse to Vermont so I can get a RN license and get rid of the 3 yr allotted time to get a ssn fo CA, and do you know the validity of the Vermont license?and what are the PROS and CONS about it ... thanks....:)

Dave can you help how to do this? I mean the process.. actually I'm in Las Vegas right now but I'm going stay for a month in New York... What are the requirement for the endorsement , thanks in advance...

2 years ago I was able to get my hard copy license with ITIN. I called them to ask whether they accepted ITIN as there was nothing mentioned in my notice. The lady at the CA BON said that they just took it out from the notice but they still accepted the ITIN. That was two years ago. I never worked anyway until I got my SSN.

PS: I had an ITIN because I was on H4 then, as my spouse's dependent for income tax purposes.

So how did you do it? did just send it to ca bon? did you use your letter from the bon? thanks....

You need to use the License by Examination application for VT. Your school will need to send in the documents to them, just as if you were applying from the start with them.

The VT license has a maximum of two years validity before it needs to be renewed. Depending on the time of year, etc., your license could be valid for only several months and then you would need to pay the fee again to renew the license. Makes no sense at all to do that at this time. Until you are in the last 8 months or so of your letter being valid, no reason to do anything at all or you just keep paying for something that you cannot use.

The proper way to do things in the US is to follow the protocols that we have in place, and that is that the Endorsement application is to be used only when there is a license number that can be verified. That is what is meant by endorsement. If you do not use the proper form, VT has the right to return everything to you and not process it. I would recommend always doing things the correct way, not just what worked for one person. VT has the right to become more stringent at any time.

But this thread was asking about what to do about getting the ITIN# and that has been answered. There are already several threads here that go into depth as to what one needs to do in order to get licensed in another state when they have gone thru CA for initial licensure and do not have a license issued.

Please just use those threads. This thread has gone completely off topic from what was originally being asked.
