I have had my Littmann lightweight ll S.E. for about a year and a half and it worked great for nursing school clinical but the past 6 months I have been working pediatric home health and now I HATE the stethoscope. So I'm trying to figure out what would be a good new one. I would love a cardiology iv For the sound quality but the price is such a killer for me. My second option is the classic iii but I don't like that on Littmanns accustic scale it's only one more point better than the lightweight, because to me that means it's basically the same just a different diaphragm and bell right? Does any cheaper brand really come close to Littmann in performance or should I plan on forking out the money for Littmann? What do you guys recommend?

I have a Littmann Cardiology III (borrowed by a friend and never returned) & IV; a Kila pediatric and standard, and a Littmann Classic II. My hospital uses Littmann neonatal in our NICU so I have used them extensively as well. I will say that the Kila is as good as the Littmann in terms of acoustics. And Kila's customer service is great.
