Help! Gowning and Wet to Dry Wound Dressings

Nursing Students Student Assist

Can someone please tell me the proper order for gowning? My book and the videos teach different ways and I just want to know how nurses in real life do it. Such as when to apply the gown, gloves, mask, and cap?

Also, can you also tell me the steps of changing wet to dry dressings because I am so confused about what to do first, next, etc. because like I said, my textbook, instructors, and videos all say different things that seem to be out of order. I don't know which way is the right way or just a short cut. I really want to know how to do it the RIGHT way. Thanks in advance!

I gave you an extensive list of the steps to the procedure for this on your other thread https://allnurses.com/forums/f205/confused-sterile-field-wet-dry-wound-dressings-316005.html. You gown, cap, apply the mask and then glove. You need to follow up and read the answers to your threads!

I would say Daytonite's 1st answer on July 11th to you was pretty darn clear......Looks like she put a lot of work into that answer

Hey there!

thanks again for the extensive and very helpful answer! I am new to the site and didn't know how to check my previous posts so I was going crazy trying to find it...but thanks again, you are a pro!

Finally2008---I already thanked daytonite, I just didn't know how to access my old posts because I am still pretty new to this site. Therefore, I asked it again...

when you are on any page of allnurses and logged in, all you need to do is click on the down arrow next to "my account" on the lower menu bar. a drop down menu appears. click on "subscribed threads". that will show all threads to which you have posted. you merely need to find the thread you are looking for and click on it.

An alternative method to finding your posts (or anyone else's) -- click on the user name from any post and you'll see a drop-down menu. Click on the selection that says "Find all posts" and you'll see all your posts in chronological order.
