Hello all,
Last night was a terrible night and we had a really bad trauma involving MVC with ejection. GCS of
He was intubated immediately upon arrival so now my question is how do I rate his GCS/RTS when he is intubated? Would his GCS be a 3? I'm just thinking it would look bad on the charting since his GCS decreased due to intubation even tho it is expected that he be sedated because of it?
What about his RTS? He's being bagged so I'm not sure what to put.
Please help! I am in need of your expert advice!
Thank you!

Are you not using the "1T" value in the GCS scoring for patients who are intubated/have an artificial airway in place?
And you can ask the EMS providers who are giving report on the patient whether or not there are spontaneous respirations when not being bagged.
Ask your preceptor for help with clarifying your trauma documentation.
