Our first test is monday and there is one topic that I cannot find the answer to. I thought you all might know the answer.
Know which situations has the highest potential for contaminating a sterile field.
I have looked in my Fundamentals of Nursing (Potter & Perr) and Medical Surgical Nursing (Lewis). I thought I might find the answer in one of them but no luck so far. The topic is the last on a sheet the instructor handed out Friday
Please Help Me! I really want to do good on this first test.

Lack of knowledge in setting a field up hasthe highest complication rate. So the MD.the RN, the Tech all are equally responsible in setting up and protecting the sterile field.

i may be wrong, but it sounds like you will be given some choices to choose from on your exam and you will have to chose the best answer from the situation presented.
if you know the dos and don'ts of sterile procedures/setting up sterile fields, you should do fine.
I am one of those people who like to find the answer in black and white. I was thinking on the same line of thought you are so hopefull we are on the right track. I know the seven principles of surgical asepsis. Wish me luck better get back to the books. Thank You for your help!
