Hi everyone!
I am a new grad, (sitting for the NCLEX in 5 days) in the state of Florida. I do have an old criminal background with a Felony arrest that was later dropped. I was honest and upfront about it when applying to the BON for the NCLEX and luckily got approved! (was the first in my cohort to get an ATT). I also applied for a job with an HCA facility and was hired to start after I passed my NCLEX, however, a recruiter called me back and stated that ACHA had deemed me ineligible. I called ACHA/Background unit, and they explained that I need to file for an "Excemption from Disqualification" and that I qualify for it. I immediately sent everything in (I already had enough paperwork b/c I submitted it to the BON).
My question is, not so much if I will be approved, but how long did it take other people to get their approval? I know they state "it can take 30 days" etc..., but I feel like that is just a generality. I'm asking b/c after I pass the NCLEX (faith and confidence!), I'm supposed to start this job 2 weeks later and the recruiter stated that if it is not changed to eligible, then I cannot start with the residency cohort. They are giving me time to rectify it, which I'm grateful for, but it isn't really in my hands anymore. Does anyone have an experience they can share? A timeline of how long it took for an approval or even a denial?
I applied for the excemption on 8/30/2018, I sit for the NCLEX, 9/14/18, and I am scheduled to start my residency on 9/24/18. You will see that from the time I applied for the excemption to the time I am scheduled to start the residency, it is less than 30 days.
Help anyone? I am literally losing sleep at night and I'm supposed to be mentally preparing myself for this exam. I've worked really hard to finish and also make sure that I had my i's dotted and t's crossed for the NCLEX application. I am so upset that b/c I wasn't aware of the excemption application, my chances at a great position are ruined.
Thanks everyone.
