I have read back over several posts just to see what has been said to others but many seem to be new grads or have worked in the ER in some capacity.
I am a Cardiac Nurse by specialty that has always wanted to be an ER Nurse. I am interviewing for a ER position tomorrow.
What kind of scenario's do you think I will be quizzed on? I am already to get Cardiac question's it is the other stuff that is kind of overwhelming!!
Any advice anyone can give would be thoroughly appreciated.
I have been studying my Critical Care text's as well as A&P what else should I have a good look over?
Thanks to all that help me out!
Cheers,
A

I have to agree with the previous reply, always remember the basics and show a willingness to learn. also is the unit a trauma centre, pead etc. If you don't have the relevent background state that you're eager to extend you're knowledge. ED is a dynamic (as in always changing) area, show you're able to adapt to different situations (and cite relevent senarios you have been in) eg/ VF, SVT, EMD pts etc.
Also, they (admin) also like to hear that you're aware of your limitations and can build on these.
Relax and BREATHE!!
This is all Aussie based experience.

be sure you know a few things about the department, even something as little as the # of beds will make it look like you have really thought this out and done your research. I was nevr quizzed on anything when I interviewed. Just act excited, and how much you want to learn about other aspects besides the cardiac one. Goos Luck to you, I love the ER there is no place else you can be a cardiac, OB, GYN, Nuero, renal, ortho, and every other kind of nurse all in one day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyday is different and thats what makes it so great!!!!!!!!!!!
