I have been going to a university in NY for about 3years now, attempting to complete the RN4 (BSN) program they have, this past semester I failed two nursing courses with a C- and was automatically dismissed from the nursing school. This is my first time ever being in this situation. I have ALWAYS gotten A's and B's. Regardless of this situation I still managed to come out with above a 3.0 GPA. I am just worried about not being accepted anywhere because of the dismissal. I need the second chance because this is the ONLY thing I want. I do not want to go the LPN route or waste money on another degree that I do not care to have. I will do an associate program or another bachelors program if possible. I do not have another degree so I can not do an ABSN or anything like that. I need names of ANY COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY OR COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN NEW YORK STATE that will accept me. I know there are many other nursing students that have been in my same predicament and are now nurses working in their field of choice so PLEASE extend a hand and help me out if you are one of these people. I need help finding a university that will take me. I know for sure that Molloy will not take me. I need names of places that will take me for sure so that i can apply there. I have called many places and need help. As many know, the application process is long and I have my Financial aid on the line. I can't wait for a school that might accept me when there are others out there that definitely will accept me. So can anyone pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee help a fellow nursing major out.
Hi there,
I am sorry that I am responding to this a decade late, but I am reaching out because I am currently in the SAME situation as you. I am also located in Upstate NY, and was just dismissed from my program. I also have a BS in Public Health. I am just wondering if you ever ended up finding a new program? I am beginning to feel hopeless, but I stumbled upon your comment and am looking for help with my situation. I hope you are well.

Hey! I am sure that you know that the CCs here in upstate have insane waitlists and admit a handful of students per semester out of the hundreds of applicants. OCC, BCC and MCC are some community colleges that I am familiar with here in Upstate. Unless you are willing to wait 2-4 semesters for entrance even with perfect grades, CNA and volunteering, I would avoid them. I won't give away which program I am in but Syracuse has some solid programs. Avoid Crouse as its brutal, has bad professors and everyone is depressed over there. Even the great students hate Crouse and it has a really high fail rate. St Joes is solid, also very hard like any Nursing school. It has a better pass rate and has better professors. The Le Moyne DPPN program is the only Direct Entry BSN program in Syracuse, check it out. Avoid Bryan and Stratton as they are sketchy, everyone fails, its expensive and I have never met an RN from there. Buffalo is solid but its not direct entry, it could take 1-2 years if ever to gain entry into the program. Same story with Binghamton, Binghamton may be worse as clinicals especially for pediatric clinicals is in Upstate downtown normally, which is 1.5 Hours away. Albany has a solid program as well but they are also not direct entry. Private Nursing programs are hit or miss in Upstate and you have to go 100 percent if you want to pass. Also since you have a BS already check out the University of Utica ABSN program with clinicals and class in Syracuse and also check out the Le Moyne ABSN program with St Joes. Good luck!
