Help with Current Nursing Leaders

Published

Hello all,

I am currently in school for ASN-RN. I have to do a report on the Current Nursing leaders. I have a Potter-Perry Nursing book and I have searched the web but I have not been able to find an actual list of the current nursing leaders. I have been able to find all the old nursing leaders like Ms. Nightingale but the most recent leader I have been able to find is Ms. Brenner. I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

I think maybe the point of the question is to ask about nursing leaders who aren't on "a list" yet (but will be someday :)).

You could try looking up the top officials of the ANA and some of the specialty nursing organizations, and the deans of the more prestigious nursing schools. You could also check the nursing literature on different topics and look for which people are publishing the most articles on a given subject. One could certainly make the argument that all those people are "nursing leaders." That is the approach I would take if it were my assignment.

Good luck with your report! :balloons:

Thanks for the response. I didnt really look at it that way. I thought there would be more defined current leaders such as current nurses that have developed certain nursing theories or the likes. I did see the ANA hall of fame but again those are nurses from the past. I will try and find some nurses that are in the tops of their fields. Are there any cetain sites or way current leaders would be recognized other than the ANA site? Again, thanks for the help!

Try the dean of Vanderbilt SON who is the 2nd-longest sitting dean of nursing in the U.S. You can find info about her career on the Web.
