I got my ADN at La Inter and I have a few questions for those of you who graduated from there and had to do the CGFNS education verification thing for your state's BON. So, we all know how completely unorganized and slow La Inter is. If you've visited the campus even once you know what I'm talking about. Well, I was looking over the application for the CGFNS Professional Report (I live in Arizona and they consider nurses educated in PR as foreign nurses so they require that report) and WOW, the amount of stuff that the school needs to fill out is insane. I was just looking at it and thinking "They are going to take years to get this filled out!" They have to put in clinical hours, theory hours, etc. It's insane. So, does anyone have any advice on how I can speed up the process? Someone in the FB group said that they highlighted part of the application or something like that and also included stamped/addressed envelopes--I don't really get it. I kinda do get it though, because I'm sure the school needs a lot of hand-holding to get it done. Also, who is actually filling the paperwork out? Is it someone in the nursing department or someone in recaudaciones maybe? I just want to know who to call--or harass--if it takes too long. Well, that's assuming that they actually answer the phone LOL

So, any advice? How long did it take for you to go through the entire CGFNS process with La Inter? I want to know what to expect...2 months, 4 months, a year. I'm itching to start working as a nurse already!!! Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi, I went to la inter de arecibo. I can't agree with you more of how unorganized they are! I finished college in December 2009. After passing la rebalidad, which is ridiculous how they offer it, I had my official license from Puerto Rico around December 2010. During that time I moved from pr to fl, to fl to ny. Which is where I've been trying to get my liscence. It was alot of paperwork. I Had to get certified in a whole bunch of things, get a notary, pictures, I even think finger prints. That whole process lasted until May 2012. Then in June of 2011 was my first attempt at taking the nclex...there is nothing from la inter that prepares you for this test! I will be taking the nclex for the 4x in November. Lots of work, but please don't give up! I hope that you are able to get this soon since I noticed that you posted in September. I hoe this helps you, good luck!

Wait, you graduated in December 2009 and you're just now taking the NCLEX? I'm confused.

Yes, graduated in December 2009, took the nclex for the first time in June 2011. May I ask why you sound so surprise?

Because it seems like a very long time in between! Didn't mean to offend you.

Hello designer-mommy, I'm interested in attending that school. Can you please share your experience? Thank you

@tasha. Don't go to La Inter.

Also, Designer-Mommy, beware that Arizona also has a TOEFL english verification requirement that must be completed BEFORE you take the NCLEX. Even if English is your 1st language. I could not find any way around this. There are 2 products from CGFNS; the CES and the CP. Arizona requires the CES which is the cheaper of the 2 at $350, but the CP which is like $445 lasts for life. If I were you, I'd check into one of the other compact states, get licensed there and then transfer. Oh, and Arizona is very expensive. Their BON app fee is $300. Plus $50 for fingerprints. Plus $350 CES (CGFNS) plus $180 for internet-based TOEFL english equivalency plus $200 NCLEX. So you're looking at $1,080 to become an RN in Arizona.

Thanks. I decided to accept my spot in the LVN program in California and do the LVN-BSN in the States. I rather get license in States and if I want to work in PR or any island, ill do so later. After reading so much stories on here on the struggle to endorse your license from PR, I chose a different route.
