Hi,
I am an older SRNA student and I am just getting by with B's and low B's...I have not found a really organized way to study this amount of material. I squeeked through this semester but I would love some advice on studying and test taking tips. I do well on the oral boards but not the written tests. I narrow it down to the two answers and usually pick the wrong one. I just feel as if I am having a hard time keeping it in my head. Then there are these young people who seem to have a photographic memory. I use to feel I had a brain but am seriously thinking of getting a CT to make sure it is still there and functioning.
Thank you, bb

I too am an older soon to be SRNA. I just took neuoanatomy and yes it's true, we loose connection sites in our brain as we age. My advisor- my age told me it was good that I was taking my classes 1 or 2 at a time because at my age (38) it takes longer to stick. Anyway----ya know what they call a SRNA who got B's in school?

BB,
I'm not a CRNA so I can't help with success tips but I found your post interesting. A low B is still a B and I don't consider that squeeking by in CRNA school. I'm sure it is hard and even very frustrating at times but it really sounds like you're doing it. I've never been a naturally strong student. When I was younger, and preoccupied with outside stuff, I didn't care very much; a C was still passing. Now that I am older only A's are acceptable but I have to work at it. I'm an ADN of 18 years and finishing up my BSN, I'm sure if I were in CRNA school, a B would make me just as happy. Just keep up the hard work and one day it will be worth all you have struggled with. How far into the program are you? Are there other older students in your class?

hey guys
I don't think the OP is being ungrateful about his/her grades, I just think they want to learn, understand, and process the information better, which will enhance the grades. There's nothing wrong with always striving to do better.

I totally agree. I start school this Monday and you have to maintain a B average to stay in school. Just "squeaking" by with B's is stressful. One small falter and you are having to work your butt off to bring your gpa back up to a 3.0.
Didn't think they were ungrateful and that was not my intent at all. BB, if you haven't already, look at this recent thread. It might give you some tips.
