help! applying for nclex cali,,,,, and NY....

hello.... im trying to apply for nclex exam in california but the application says that i need to send them a copy of license or diploma. my problem is i dont have a license.a written explantion is required to explain why i dont have a license in th Philippines. i took the nle exam november 2008 and after the exam i went here in the USA bcoz my visa will expire... is my reason valid???

one more thing is it possible for me to apply my nclex exam in california and cvs in NY at the same time? can i make a reciprocity from california to NY if ever i passed my nclex in cali?

If you have taken and passed NLE then you have to declare it. If NY is your end destination I would suggest you just concentrate with that because even if you pass NCLEX in CA you still have to go through CVS for NY which can add delay on working (as long as your visa allows you to work)

If that's the truth then you should disclose it. Whether not it's a valid explanation isn't up to anybody on this board. It would be up to the CA BRN. They're pretty picky and choosy on what they would accept and wont accept, only they can answer the question. If your goal is to work in NY then you really should apply to NY and forget Cali because they wont issue a license unless you provide them with a valid ss#. If you don't even have a priority date then you should concentrate on that first because it doesn't do anybody any good to have a license when 1. you're not even here in the US 2. don't have a ss# to work. Here in the US you can't work with out a valid ss#. Unsure if you're aware of that or not, don't try to jump through unecessary hoops if you don't need to. Save your money as much as possible. hi.. we are same situation here. I am here now at USA.. i have my GC. and i want to take an NCLEX at CALI.

my questions is.. are we qualified to take an NCLEX even we are not an RN?? my plan is if ever i pass an NCLEX at CALI. then we will move there..

I had a friend who had to return to the Philippines to write the NLE. I've heard of people being allowed to sit for NCLEX with the letter, and some weren't allowed until they wrote the NLE. Since you already have a GC, then it will be much easier for you because you will/or have a valid ss# and you wont have to wait for your license. Good Luck

thank you for the reply..now my follow question, how can i start my processing.. so it means as i understand they will allowed me to take an NCLEX exam. but it depends to them if i am qualified.. and i need also to make a written explanation why i haven't pass the NLE at PHIL. right??

Why would you apply to CA if you want to work New York? Just fill in the application to NYS and include a letter stating why you do not have RN license. They will let you know if it is satisfactory or what you need to do from there.

hello again, maybe u are referring to CP11.. that she/he will take an exam to CA and then want to work at NY

my case is, I am here at INDIANA, if gods will i got my NCLEX and PASS then we will move to CA.

Indiana needs an RN to my country, that is why i can't take the NCLEX here..

i am still looking a states that doesn't need a RN license aside from VERMONT u said earlier..

and i think CA is not required an RN license but i need to write a letter explanations :-)

Not having RN license is different to failing the licensing exam. Best thing would be to call the CA board of nursing and ask what you should do.

this is in VERMONT said. so i am not qualified.

I take a Exam before but i failed.. i haven't chance to take again coz i got pregnant and my VISA is already came..

Submit a copy of your current nursing license

a. The license must be in good standing and show an expiration date.

b. Please note: If you do not hold a current nursing license you are not eligible to take the

NCLEX through Vermont.
