I've kept up a high gpa average but this year I failed intermediate algebra once and if I don't get an A on the final I'll fail again which will bring my gpa down to a 3.4. I can't believe I've done this after working so hard to pass with almost all As in my other classes.
I actually like math and got an A on intro to algebra. The teacher was difficult in that she changed the due dates around for a lot of things with little notice but I knew that, having taking the class first semester. I feel terrible. I just didn't have the time to juggle my classes this semester with work but I really thought I was doing fine until recently. I don't even know if you can take a class again after this or if it would even help. How much weight will they give to these grades? Overall it's still a decent gpa, and I do have A's in Micro, Anatomy, and Chem. I feel like I just ruined my chances of getting in somewhere now.

I assume you're past the drop date, correct?

Are you planning to apply to an ADN program or a BSN? Most intermediate algebra classes aren't transferable, so they won't be factored into your cumulative GPA if you go to a university. They only care about statistics. The non-transferable classes killed my GPA when it was time to apply!! Sounds like it'll benefit you, though. Be sure you calculate your GPA using ONLY transferable units if you're transferring.

I am taking Intermmediate Algebra right now and it is a 0 level class so it does not count towards our GPA. You have to successfully complete it with a C or better to move on to College Algebra but it does not factor into our GPA. That kinds sucks because mine is a 5 credit hour class and I have over a 100% in it right now but that is the way 0 level classes are. Does your school offer free tutoring? I know half of my class has been spending their lives in free tutoring this semester. I guess what I like is our college wants us to succeed so they do so much to help us pass especially the remedial classes. The instructors set up study groups, there is tutoring and we do math lab which is extremely helpful. Make sure it goes against your GPA and I would take advantage of any help you can get for next semester.

Does it count towards your nursing prereqs for your college or is it just a prereq for a class such as statistics that you need to take. If it counts, can you take it a 3rd time. If so, it sounds like you shouldn't take any other classes while in that one. Good luck to you!
Thank you all so much for the great advice. I was totally freaking out when I posted that but I've talked to my teacher and she's going to adjust my grade. She had two different due dates given for the completion of some of our work. I assumed the first date was correct and didn't see her announcement about the new date. Because she didn't revise the date on the Canvas calender she's going to accept the late turn in. It's an online class so you really have to keep on top of everything.
Use this as a learning point of what not to do in the future. Once you're in nursing school, you're expected to stay on top of things. Good luck with the rest of your pre-reqs
