imo, unless you're working in peds, 'hello kitty' scrubs are unprofessional. even in peds, i can't fathom a respectable peds resident wearing 'hello kitty' either.

While I agree that character-print scrubs are not very professional in adult areas, especially ICUs...in Peds it's different. I actually worked at a children's hospital, and they had a rule - NO WHITE TOPS OR COATS! Kids freak when they see white. YOU could wear white pants, but they actually preferred that you wear colored ones instead. They also said that cute tops and jackets are fine, because it calms the kids down and gets them to open up a bit. If they see a nurse wearing their favorite cartoon character on her shirt, they trust her a bit more, somehow. This was all said during orientation!

I can agree with this. When i've gone to the peds floor to get peds pts. wearing my SpngeBob, Clifford, or Bob the Builder hats, kids are actually happy to see me. Spiderman and Stitch are huge hits, too.

(Typically i put one of the disposable hats in my pocket, since the majority of the time, the kids want to put my hat on.)

Most character scrubs are only tops- they dont make bottoms for them. If you want bottoms, you may have to sew them yourself! I've only ever seen one pair of character pants.

And by the way, and this is just my opinion, too much of anything can look like you are wearing pajamas to work! A girl I worked with had sponge bob bottoms, top, and shoes..they really did look like pajamas..not scrubs at all..

yeah ur right, that is too much, thanks!

Yeah , Thanks for your input!:nurse: Both top and bottom may be too much, but i won't give up my top-- its for the girls!

you can't possibly think a pt is going to trust you, dressed in 'hello kitty', to push a calcium channel or beta blocker into them.

if you have nothing nice to say, dont' say anythign at all:nono:
