Hello from a future CRNA

Hello Everyone! My name is Linda, I am new to allnurses.com, which is great by the way, I too am interested in becoming a CRNA, but am only working at the stage of working on my pre-reqs for the RN program. Yes, yes I know, I have a long way to go, but I have a positive outlook on life and I know it will happen given time. What I would like to know, if you guys do not mind sharing, is what advice you guys might have for me. Having experience or being further along in your education is there anything you would do different or might want to warn me about? I recently took the entrance exam for the LVN program and the science portion blew my mind! I am not eligible to take the RN entrance exam since I have not yet completed the pre-reqs, but I thought taking the LVN entrance exam would be a good experience for me. There were some 450 people there taking the exam and the program accepts only 30 students! At the orientation for the exam, students were informed that the test would cover math and reading skills - and nothing was said about SCIENCE! I know, I know, I should have known science would be on there - but hey, I have chalked it up to the learning experience it was meant to be. I need to find a pre-entrance exam study guide to help me begin preparing for the RN exam. I posted a message in the Student Nursing topic to see if I get any good bites - but if you guys have any suggestions I would really appreciate them as well. THANKS!

lgcv,

I am curious, if you do not mind sharing, how did you respond your manager's question? Did it catch you totally off gaurd, or did you already know she felt that way?

Hi Again. Glad you didnt take offense to the science question. I just wanted to warn you how much science will play a part in your academics. I myself have not mentioned my goals to be a CRNA, and now after reading all this, glad I didnt!!! I had kinda heard that before, but wasnt sure if it was true.

I have met too many cranky nurses as a patient, and yall are saying that there are more out there??? lol. I have had some very bad experiences as a child with Anesthesia, and it is the fear that drove me to research anesthesia online and learn all that I could about it so that the chances of the experieces being repeated are less. After researching, I became very interested in it, and that is what started me considering becoming an Anesthesiaologist. But I opted not to for varioius reasons, and now I am going into graphics design. I have not found very many CRNA's or anesthesiaologists online to chat with, and it is nice to see a forum just for them. I hope to continue to have conversations with you all. If anyone here needs any help with the computer, please feel free to email me, and I will try to help as best I can.
