Hello Excelsior schoolmates and alumni

Published

Hello everyone,

I just realized I have been very rude to post a thread earlier without introducing myself. I apologize. (I just got very excited that I am CPNE eligible and forgot my manners :))

My name is Ken and I live in NYC. I was enrolled in a traditional nursing program 4 (2010) years ago in CUNY. I failed on my 3rd semester in the program (failed my final exam by a point) got a C- and was dismissed afterwards. I was really devastated back then I was determined to become a nurse. I learned about Excelsior's ADN program, I applied and got accepted.

It was tough to take all the ECE's and FCCA (there were some retakes) but I am glad that I'm done with it and I am now able to apply for the CPNE.

I am worried because it's been a long time since I've practiced my clinical skills. I still have all the notes I from my old nursing school. I wish to finish this program soon since after four years it is already a long time since I've had my clinical experience and I might even be disqualified already. I don't know but i think Excelsior says that your last clinical experience in school must be within 5 years ago. (Is that true or did they change the requirements? I heard they change it to "you must be currently working in a clinical setting". I don't know if that applies to me but I have already been accepted in the program.) I am determined to take CPNE once and for all and pass it.

I'm planning to take my CPNE either in Queens, NY or in Albany, NY. If anyone is interested in studying and practicing with me I would really be glad to help and be helped.

Ken, have you considered taking a workshop? Sounds like that might really be helpful. Welcome to the forum! :)
