HEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPP. Los Angeles county public health nursing

Published

Hello,

I applied for a phn nurse position at the LA county and I got a letter for an exam next week.

Problem is I don't know how to study. The exam analyst responsible for the position sent me to their website where they have some practice stuff. But honestly, if that is what the exam is then I am truly scared cause the stuff is very very hard. I don't know what to do. Has anyone ever taken this exam. It is for PH5230C.

PLEASE HELLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Specializes in ICU/CCU.
Thank you all responses.

I called the Exam Analyst by the name (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) and she sent me to this website

WELCOME and to another one similar to this. I have been trying to study them but it has absolutely nothing to do with nursing. Zip, tit, nada, Zero. And the questions are weird.

Now someone talked about LASD questions. I don't know it is the same type of exam that applies to PHN. I have taken the La County medication exam before and passed but this public health thingy is kinda weird.

Tommorrow is D-day. So you all wish me well and I will update the blog about what happens.

did u pass the test? how was it ?

I'm writing this years later for those who will continue to come to this site in hopes of getting some help in preparing for an interview with L.A. County Public Health.

The email is a bit misleading. I also saw the link of topics to study and studied stats, math, methodology and a lot of other topics from grad school and when I arrived, there wasn't even an exam, it was an interview! Email said to bring a watch (for the exam) and wear "loose comfortable clothes". It said cell phones must be shut off, so I bought a watch just for this 'exam', but no exam- just an interview/oral exam.

Thank God I decided to put on a blazer over my summer dress even thought it was 90 degrees outside. I was ready to dig into Chi squares and Pearson's R correlation, and they were asking about my experience, so I had to shift gears quickly. Have some SOAR stories ready. I passed the exam and a week later, am being invited to apply for an open position.

To those who say L.A's smoggy and congested, you obviously haven't lived by the beach.

To the person who said L.A. County Public Health is the axis of evil, can you explain why you think so?

Good Luck to Everyone!!!

Are you still a phn in LA county? I was thinking of applying but just want more input on how you like the job and what a phn does.
