be nurses but are there certain fields that they would not be allowed to work in after they graduate? Just curious. Kinda sounds scary to me. Having a nurse with an infectious disease an all.

First of all, nurses are not required to disclose their status. Why would having a nurse with a disease be scary? A nurse (like any other person) would have to exchange bodily fluids with a person to be contagious.
I would say if a nurse used all the universal percausions and was always careful then I have no problems with them haivng an infectious disease but if they are unruly and do not wnat to follow the rules and they have the infectious disease, then yes it is scary.
Ok speaking from what I have seen of the girl in my class. She is the kind of person who is rebelious and I have seen her not use universal percausions especially washiung hands after using bathroom. That is scary. And The reason we all know she has the hep B is because our school requires you to have a Hep B vaccine before you are allowed to do clinicals and she was ranting and raving about hwo she does not wnat a vaccinne. Well the school told her No vaccinne, no clinicals. She she said she had Hep B. and made a big fuss about it. She ended up having to get a doctors note satting she had Hep B and that she was not receive the vaccine. The school said she was allowed ot do clinicals. If this nurse is not allowed to do clinicals then how will she graduate? It doesn't make any sense. Most nursing schools require a certain number of hours of clinical and require that any missed hours be made up. If this person was not allowed to do clinicals due to having Hep B I believe it is discrimination.
Is this post for real?!

And NO she would not graduate. She was told she had to furnish proof that she either had the Hep B vaccinne or could not get it for some reason. She was telling a group of girls that she had to have a doctors note stating taht she had Hep B and that she would not be able to receive the vaccine.
What you think things like this don't ahppen? It was a real question and I was curious if anyone out there had this happen tp them so I could tell this girl what others may have done about it. Gosh.

while i don't know much about this i thought it was illegal to not allow a person , even if this person had HIV or AIDS am i wrong. I would think hep B would be ok becasue some nurse get infected while at work and continue to practice. I for one have never had the HEP b shot are anything, and my school does not require it from what i know , but i am going to start my series on my own next month just cause its the right thing to do regardless:)
Thanks. Yeah, I think taht hep B is less of a threat anyway cuz people can get the vaccine. That way no one will be affected anyway even i there were an exchange of blood or whatever accidentally. As long as people get the vaccine they will be immune to the hep B virus. Thanks for your comment.
I think you missed my point about nurses transmitting disease to patients. You should go on the CDC website and become more educated about Hep B and other infectious diseases. BTW, the Hep B vaccine does not 100% guarantee that you will become immune.

I know that. sheesh. Ok, all I wnated to know was if anyone here heard of similiar experiences. It is not ME making the descision to not let this girl do cliniclas if she does not furnish proof that she has either had the vaccine or gets it. It is the school. I just wanted to knwo if anyone else heard of that. Please stop jumping down my throat. I do not make the rules ya know.
I wasn't meaning to jump down your throat..it just sounded odd. Sorry if you thought I was being mean! :)
