I have been an LPN for 19 years. I've done corporate health testing and brief onsite health coaching for the last few years. I would like to get a certificate in wellness coaching. Has anyone done this and know which programs are preferred. I would like to do it online or at a seminar if possible. Any details you can give will be appreciated.

I'm sorry I am just seeing this post about being a wellness coach. Are you still looking for info? I am a wellness coach.

OK. I teach low glycemic weight loss classes, and I am partnered with a group of women (doesn't have to be women, just happens to be) and we work on a mentored/leadership model (mastermind group of sorts). I am going to be the project manager for a nurse website where I teach about nurses self care, health care, and wealth care. I am going to be writing CEU's directed to teaching nurses about cellular nutrition, low glycemic living, and subjects such as using our nursing skills to educate. We are in our scope of practice to teach clinically proven health. So, that is what I do. I also have written a low glycemic 12 week webinar, and people all over are able to access the program. I market low glycemic products as well as cellular nutrition. So, I am pretty busy. I have 3 classes going on right now. One online, and 2 "live"

That is awesome. I have followed a low carb diet for 10 years...I hate the word diet. It's not a diet. It's how I eat. Weighed 230 about 17 years ago now fluctuate bewteen 130-140. Would love to do something like this!

I love that you are doing so well! I also don't call it a diet. Dr. Strand's book is called Healthy for Life. And, that is what we teach, to be healthy for life! Dr. Strand is an awesome physician! If you are interested in what I do, I would be glad to share more. If you are looking for a way to use your nurses skills AND make money, the group I am with is starting a very neat project. We are already using a program to teach low glycemic lifestyle via a DVD program. I have written the virtual program. We are getting ready to market a program called the 2010 RN Wellness Project. We are going to add to a website already in use, and have a program that outlines for nurses 1) Self care (mind/spirit connection) 2)Health Care (health care for self, and learning to teach others about self health care) and 3) Wealth care (teaching nurses to have a home business using their nursing skills). I have a physician on the board, and we also have a life coach, and fitness expert on the project. With the health care the way it is, I really feel that people need to learn to start taking responsibility for their health. And who better to teach them how to be healthy, but nurses! This part of the project we are very early in the planning. I am looking for 2-3 nurses that are self starters, health conscious, and loves people to be in my planning group for my part of this project...If you know anyone who would be a good fit for what we are doing, please let me know!

Oh, I didn't mention, that you don't have to be an RN to do the project. I see that you have 19 years experience as an LPN. I am more interested in the eagerness to teach health, than whether you are an LPN or RN :)

Hello, I think I could be a good fit for you. I'm a active, energetic, motivated RN that loves patient teaching!

What part of the country are you in? I'm new to allnurses and am not sure if these posts are regional or national.

I am actually in North Carolina, but do classes locally and virtually. I am in the process of creating a Nursing Business network for a twofold purpose. One, to network with other nurses that want to teach health/better eating principles and who want to use that vehicle to build financial wellness in the process. I am looking for a few nurses who have that "entrepreneural" drive, and want to incorporate their nursing skills in the process... :)

Thanks for your reply. What is your website, so I can learn more about your content?
