For our Community Health course, we're supposed to do a community service project to help the main clinical site where we'll be doing our Community Health clinicals. We are at one of our local health departments, where they have recommended that we do some sort of teaching for a local Boys and Girls Club. Apparently the club has really enjoyed this in the past. However, I'm at a loss as to where to start with this. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to design something interactive that these kids might actually enjoy? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What about something like practicing how to clean a scrape/wound and apply neosporin/bandage etc? They would use their own elbows and knees or a partners.

What about a nutrition class? Bring snacks that are healthy and teach them why. Let them be interactive. Let them decorate healthy snacks like faces on celery with peanut butter. Or apple slices and let them do something with them. Print handouts about nutrition. Maybe incorporate exercise? Be creative and have fun with it.

One thing that some friends of mine did was a hand washing project. They had a beach ball that the kids tossed around and then they put it under a black light ! Kids love that sort of stuff! Good luck
