I'm 22 years old

Pre GPA: 3.55

Overall GPA: 3.75

I have nearly 125 volunteer experience at a hospital.

I had experience working as an MA with over 400 hours, unfortunaetly, I can't use that for my application.

I'm a transfer student and I've finished all my pre-req and all I need to do is my TEAS exam. Unfortanetly, I didn't do the test on the deadline because I was going through severe depression.

Now, I debate whether it's worth to wait one more semester or to go on to San Jose state. According to sanjose state my pre nursing gpa is 3.42 (I think that's really low in compariso nto 3.8 and about) I really don't think I'll make it there. However, san jose is the only place I have applied and I live in socal.

I was thinking of just transfer and get my Bachelor in Health science then try again for nursing. But then I don't know whether I would have the funds to do another bachelor's.

If I wait until Spring 2016, I can apply for nursing fos SJSU SPRING, SACRAMENTO SPRING, LAPC SPRING, COC, AND LAVC. I would also apply for san francisco and csula for nursing.

I'm getting tired of waiting though, I don't know whether I should just wait or just transfer for a Health science. My dream is to become a nursing, but what would I do with a health science degree?

Anyone understand or relate to how I'm feeling? I spoke to a counselor and taking the last two GE courses this spring. And at fall 2015, I got no other classes to take and dont wanna use up my fafsa aid. I have no job either. :/

Specializes in Nursing Management.

I wouldn't put off nursing any longer. Most of the people in my program already have their BA's and it hasn't really gotten them anywhere. If your core science classes are A's and you kill it on your TEAS exam, you should be golden. I got into all three of the programs I applied to (ADN)

Kudos to your for focusing on a BSN. If you want to work in acute care, this is your ticket. Bachelors in Health Science is worthless.... you'll be chewing up your financial aid with nothing to show for it. My advice? Apply to a lot more schools - consider moving out of SoCal due to the enormous competition you're facing. FYI, New Mexico is much less competitive right now. In the meantime, you could get a McJob and stash some cash.... it'll come in handy with all those 'extras' you have to have for nursing school.

Best of luck on your educational journey.

After this year, I'll only have about 1-2 years lefts for financial aid. :/

Due to your financial aid situation, I would just focus on the TEAS and knocking that out of the park and apply to as many programs that make sense for you. You will be fine. Just go after you ADN like I am and you can focus on BSN when it works for you. Sending positive vibes. Just trust your heart and all of it will work out.

Because you live in so cal and are willing to travel as far north as San Jose, have you considered other csu nursing programs? There are lots to choose from between so cal and San Jose. I've heard that san bernadino is less competitive. Some csus value overall GPA (such as csu stanislaus) while others value the science and non science prereqs (sac state).

Your GPA seems fairly decent. I had 3.6 nursing prereqs but overall GPA was very much Lower so I had fewer options. I think you can get admitted to a csu.

If you get admitted, you will have a BSN in this majorly competitive state. Good for you And good luck!!!
