Hi EveryoneIn ANIA's education section, there is a link for Health IT certification.http://www.ania.org/Education.htmhttp://www.healthitcertification.com/about.htmlHealth IT certification is a website that provides professional training and certification for those dealing with EHR, HIT, and CPHIE.For those experienced informatics nurses, would there be a benefit in becoming certified in these areas through this company? What are your thoughts on this website (Health IT certification)? Thanks

Nov 9, 2008 IMHO this organization is neither a HIT (Health information technology), Nursing Informatics nor a Nursing professional association. Being neither of these I question the validity of their ability to provide a valid credential for the field of HIT. This organization seems to be a private company selling a "certification". If you look on the website there is no specific educational or experiential requirements for taking this certification where as both the ANCC and HIMSS certifications require prerequisites such as past experience practicing in the field and or educational credit or a degree. For those experienced informatics nurses, would there be a benefit in becoming certified in these areas through this company? What are your thoughts on this website (Health IT certification)? Thanks

I know this will help experienced informatics nurses who frequent this web site.I do know that the informatics nurse certification through ANCC and the CPHIMS through HIMSS are quite common for experienced professionals within these respective fields. Thanks!
