This was the most interesting of the 4 classes I've taken so far.
There was a fair amount of writing and quite a few exercises. One kind of tricky exercise on inheritance - autosomal dominant, recessive, x-linked dominant & recessive - you were given the pedigree for each and had to label what the pattern was. Another required you to decipher a pedigree and its associated narrative and use the info to project the likelihood of Huntington's for various offspring. The most difficult (for me) exercise required that you re-write hospital literature down to 5th - 8th grade level (I think this is actually very hard to do). Here's the grading breakdown from my section:
Discussion Participation (10 @ 1/2 pt ea)
Check Yourself*(3 @ 5 pts ea)
Discussion (8 @ 10 pts ea)
Readability exercise (20 pts)
Teaching Plan (40 pts)
Mendelian Inheritance Laws (20 pts)
Non Traditonal Inheritance (20 pts)
Total - 200 pts
*quizzes - you can retake if you don't like your score
Quite a bit of work but and some ambiguous direction but the TA posted tips and general feedback every week - unlike some of the other courses. There is also plenty of information available on the web or through the OU on-line library for most of the assigned topics, which makes life a lot easier.

I was thinking about taking this class and Statistics. Can anyone who has taken this class give advice?
