Health Care Reform

Published

Hi All-

I just thought it would be interesting to see everyone's thoughts on the health care reform since it was passed by the House today (220-215). Good idea , bad idea , or undecided , and why you feel this way?

I am interested in everyone's thoughts regarding this, if you care to share.

Thanks!

Getting really sick means that you will have to spend time in the hospital, which means that you could lose your job, which means that you could lose your insurance that's tied to your job.

Makes no sense at all.

There is no "want" when it comes to health care. If ones is seriously sick, they have to have it or it could put their health or life in danger. It's a need, not a want.

Bankruptcy ruins your credit and many can not file or they would lose everything they have ever worked for, because they got sick.

Even with healthcare insurance if one is sick enough they will lose their job and probably go bankrupt. Having healthcare insurance will not stop bankruptcies or home foreclosure.

How does having healthcare insurance when you have a illness that puts you in the hospital for months gonna help you keep your job or your assets?

Food and housing are needs too aren't they? Why aren't we giving them away too? Or the real question might be WHEN will we start giving them away?

The plan currently being offered as reform will make small gains regarding accessibility and cost. It's a start, not the end of the process.

Very small gains and won't go into effect until 2014. But you're taxes will go up immediately. It still won't help with costs. Since Mass instituted it's near UHC ER visits have INCREASED. Accessibility is by no means guaranteed. Who will take care of the increased numbers of people coming into the dr's office for anitbiotics for a cold?

Did you know that Medicare ITSELF reported $60 BILLION in fraud last year and now has "fixed" that so that this year they only had $47 BILLION in fraud.

BTW the reform will only cover about 96% of Americans. Who decides which 4% will be left out?

Health care is not a commodity, it's a need.

IF it's a need $$$$$$ should be no object and so far it hasn't been..............
