I took it there last summer....That is what made me decide that their program was not for me. One instructor was pretty good, but for the most part it was totally unorganized. I will be taking it again in the fall at Cy-Fair. They don't require you take it there until you are actually in the nursing program. So I will be third semester when I take it at Cy-Fair. Good Luck.
thanks for the tip. if you don't mind me asking for more info, did the textbooks help at all? i am asking because i heard some students actually told me that i really do not need it coz they give handouts, is that true?
is the book the newest edition or the old edition still still? thanks and i really appreciate your answer (",)

You will need the pharmacology book AND the math book. There was also a pharmacology study guide they recommended. I rarely used the study guide. I don't know which book/addition they will be using this summer. Our book was Pharmacology And The Nursing Process, Fourth Edition, by Lilly, Harrington, & Snyder. The pharmacology class, IMHO, is like any other scientific course one would take in college, i.e., some teacher are great and some are not. At HCC Coleman, the teachers rotate through lecture by lecture. Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

Smiles for the most part you can study your notes, but the book is nice to have to read the ALERTS and nursing boxes. You will definitely need your MATH book. If I remember correctly, your final grade is calculated using 3 lecture tests, online quizes, and 1 math test (ace this and it will easily help your grade.) Good luck!
It also depends on the instructor for that particular lecture. There are some teachers that you can study directly from the notes, and others want every single line in the book memorized.

there are usually 500 or so that take pharm in the summer... i took is back in 2005 in the summer, and am currently in their ADN program (graduating in august)...anyway the summer is VERY fast paced.. many people are weeded out because they dont take the class seriously and dont believe them when they tell you 2 out of 3 students will fail. You study religiously, you'll be just fine and never never never rely on your notes. Especially with these instructors... some are VERY good about going off their notes but most arent..notes should be used only as a guideline because the moment you start relying just on your notes, you'll get yourself in trouble. Put in the work and I promise you'll do just fine. May as well work on your study habits now before you get into the program and life will be much easier for you :-)
thanks for the advice...but if i do not rely on my notes that much, does that mean i have to really study from the books?
Yes definitely study the book. If you want to be successful in any program and REALLY learn the material, ALWAYS read the book. Notes are great but never rely on them. If you want to be a great nurse, you have to put the time and hard work into it. Don't ever study just to "get by" because it will haunt you later on once you are in nursing school. I promise you, everything you learn in Pharm and the courses you have taken up to this point, you WILL use in the program. If you learn it now the right way, your life will be much easier in the program
