UH Manoa GEPN Cohort 2018

U.S.A. Hawaii

Published

I know it is still early on, but are any of you applying to University of Hawaii's Graduate Entry Program in Nursing (GEPN) for fall 2018?

What educational background is everyone coming from? Any health related experience?

For any previous students in this program, how is the first year of course work? Any advice for those planning on applying?

I'm considering applying for the Master of Science track in Advanced Population Health Nursing.

Thank you and good luck to everyone! :)

Additionally, we currently do have clinical on the weekends (everyone has different clinical schedules) and we had class on Sunday's our first semester but at least parking was free that day on campus! :) by having weekend classes there may be a weekday you have off instead of the weekend.

Thanks for that info!

is there anything that we can do to be more prepared for our first semester? or any other info you can share~

Aloha aspiring808nurse! Congrats on being accepted into the GEPN program. I am planning on apply next year. I was wondering what class you took for your Introduction to research prerequisite? I am having trouble finding a class to fulfill that prereq. Thank you for any help or imformation :)

@GEPNCH10, thank you for posting on here! Do you have any recommendations/suggestions for us prior to starting the program?

@Mattchu808, I took PUBA 310 through UH West Oahu. I took it during this current semester, but I do believe they are offering it this summer. Good luck!

Hi everyone! Congratulations to those who got accepted!! I actually have a huge favor to ask of you guys because I have lots of questions about the GEPN program. I'm very lost right now as I'm in my junior year and have decided that getting an MD is not my calling. I was wondering if you guys could tell me how competitive this program is. I really want to become a nurse, but I'm not sure if my personal stats would get me acceptance. I would appreciate any reply :) as I am VERY Lost

Hi everyone! Sorry for joining this so late but I just found it today! My name is Jolana and I will be on the FNP track :) Looking forward to meeting you all!

I have been told that the Resume is the most important part, what do you think it was about your resume that helped sell yourself to the Board?

How has the program been so far? How do you think your resume set you apart? Thank you for making this thread, Im currently trying to apply for the Cohort 19.

Hello! I have recently been accepted for cohort 12 for Fall of 2019! Can any current students let me know if we get time off for Winter Break? I will be coming from the mainland and just want to plan ahead if I will have the time off around Christmas/ if the first semester ends before it! Thanks and I look forward to hearing back!

Congrats on getting in. Each semester is 17 weeks, and Jan semester starts the first week of the month. typically when everyone else goes back to school. You may have class on Saturday or Sundays too. We had about 3 weeks off for xmas. But I would ask the program directors for specific dates before booking tickets.
