Or tips to increase my chances of a job? I already have my license and am ready to move. I'm talkig to Kahu Malama and Aya healthcare currently. I've been submitted to Maui Memorial a couple times and nothing.

Most agencies will have access to Maui Memorial. It is via an auction site called Medefis. I'd suggest getting a recruiter at a smaller agency or two that is willing to optimize your profile and bid amount (the hourly bill rate) and strategize with you about how to win the contract. You can discuss how little you are willing to make to work in Paradise. Honest and knowledgeable recruiters will be able to assess your competitiveness at a particular assignment and advise you accordingly. It may be that enough travelers want to go to Maui such that you are competing with nurses with twice your experience. If so, a good recruiter will tell you to focus elsewhere. Or they may know that Maui often posts openings and follows through poorly (for a random example). It strikes me that your current recruiters are just shrugging their shoulders. I would certainly think Mahu Kalama could tell you the real situation and all your options for working in Hawaii.

Is it difficult to obtain a Hawaii assignment as a traveler?
Hawaii has used lots of travelers since travel nursing was invented. But it is on most traveler's bucket lists. The costs and hassles deter some, and the rest is just up to how competitive you are compared to the other traveler profiles. It can be sporadic from what I've seen (never worked there or even applied as a traveler) and sometimes the pay is decent. But most reports I read online is perhaps a bit of out of pocket by travelers to work in "Paradise". That was my experience working in the USVI - my net worth declined a smidge.
