I noticed that the RN-MSN program at TWU requires a math class called Quantitative Approach to Introductory Mathematics (Math 1013 ). The course equivalent at TCC is Survey of Mathematics. I have taken College Algebra and Statistics, but I have never taken this class, and I don't know much about it. What kind of math does it cover? I am currently in the RN program at TCC, but I would like to go directly into an RN-MSN program when I am finished. I am considering TWU and a couple of other schools for their RN-MSN programs. I'm not sure if it is worth taking an extra math class to go to TWU. It is more convenient for me to be in a program as close as TWU, but I have all of my prereqs finished for the other programs that I'm looking at, and they are online for the most part. I really hate math and thought that I was through with it once I passed Algebra and Statistics. Can anyone give me more info about this class??? Thanks.

I would check directly with a TWU admissions counselor. It seems like such a basic math class like that would be unnecessary if you've already taken Algebra and stats. That class was not required when I applied to TWU, but I know that they've changed their pre-reqs slightly since then.

i am taking it right now at tcc because it is required for my degree (graduating dec 08) at twu.. all it is basically is a math history course we have 3 math test first was over basic math, second test was over set theory ,then the last was over quadratic equations. the last thing we are doing is a oral presentation/powerpoint over a famous math person. the lady sitting next to me had never taken algebra and is so very lost. i had taken algebra and half of stats so i felt confident in this course. he (our teacher) made it very clear that if you expected to learn anything about math in this class you definitly were in the wrong classroom....i would be scared of this course if taken at a university ( i have heard horror stories), but seems fairly easy here at tcc...
I had no idea what they did in that class. It doesn't sound too bad, but I still don't know if I want to start taking exta classes when I have so many already. Anyway, thanks for the info about the class.
