I just got my CPR certification yesterday and was curious how often it's used.

Have you performed CPR? If so, what type of floor do you work on?

I have been a nurse since May....never been involved in a code or performed CPR....I work Med Surg btw. I don't mind telling you I am terrified at the thought...I keep thinking will I do it correctly. I know its just a matter of time.....

Specializes in ER,ICU and Progressive Care Unit,Peds.

While I worked as a tech in the adult ICU/PCU, I was involved in plenty of codes and did CPR many times. I performed compressions on a man for 30mins one night; but he didn't make it. It was a really nasty code. I've also broken ribs while doing compressions, which is a really wierd feeling. However, since I've been an RN in the Navy I've been working in peds. So thank goodness no codes yet or cpr on kids yet.
