Have any of your kids or peds patients had this?

We walked all around Washington DC (a LOT) the week of Aug.1 - at the end of the week (on the way home) my son was limping around and I thought he was just sore from walking so much so I didn't pay much attention to it. By the time we got home, he showed me a fixed, hugely swollen, painful inguinal lymph node (I would say large grape size - very obvious to the eye) & he had a fever. No other sx. Went to ped, got amoxicillin, finished that rx & now the node is down some and not nearly as sore (I would say it's small grape size now & there is another one above it that has been large pea size the whole time - all other nodes are fine). He never got any other sx & is fine now besides the lump/node.

Aaaaaannnnnnnyyyyyway, did your kids/patient's swollen node take a long time to go back to normal?

Please continue to follow this with your son's doctor. My cousin had similar symptoms involving lymph nodes in her underarm. Turned out to be community-acquired MRSA. It is thought that she was an asymptommatic carrier and may have introduced it to the soft tissues of her underarm thru a minor skin cut or abrasion, perhaps while shaving.
