I requested a transcript from my former college and I have to send them proof of residency. They are wanting a statement from a bank or utility company.

Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

And, of course, all the places I asked for such a statement refuse to do so because of privacy issues. What to do?

Hmmmm....can't you just show your utility bill, or bank statement. Generally, they just want to see that a utility company or a bank mails official correspondence to you at a qualified address (ie, one that is in the boundaries for being considered a resident of the area).

Don't you regularly get utility bills, a cell phone bill, bank statement, something sent to you monthly? Why do you need to ask them for one?
