Has the nursing school wait discouraged anyone?

Published

I can't believe it's 2008 and I am still not a nurse. I've been researching programs since 2003, and the place I lived at the time had a lottery. I had heard about people who'd been waiting 3-4 years to get into a program.

I got my CNA and started pre-reqs.. and kind of gave up on the idea.

Every year I seem to "hop back on the nursing wagon" only to give up just because it seems like forever.

Finally, I am starting all over again with my CNA and pre-reqs and I promised to stay with it this time.

But to think, perhaps if I stuck with it the 1st time I'd be a nurse by now!

Anyone else get really discouraged by the wait lists, lotteries and low acceptance rates?

I know what you mean...I feel like I'm on a roller coaster waiting to get off the ride....I am waiting on my acceptance/rejection letter for this fall...Isn't it amazing how negative people can be? I'm so nervous...It feels like this process has consumed me. All I want to do is get into nursing school and be the best nurse that I can be...the potential is there...I just wish I knew for sure...so I could go to school, be a nurse, and get on with my life..lol...good luck to everyone this year...I hope you all get accepted into your school of choice. At my school for the Fall semester, 750 have applied, but only 150 will actually get into the program....I'm up and down. Good Luck!

Consumed. Yes. A perfect description! Definitely a wild ride, too. These last days of waiting are horrible. I expected to hear something a few days ago because I was told I would. Nada. So that has put me on pins and needles, because it feels so imminent. The most outside date fro knowing (I was assured I would hear by today) has a mere 13 business minutes left. Another day down.

It is so hard knowing the answer is already out there, they have already made their decision, it is all about the notification. They know and I don't but *I* should! I just want to get on with my life, one way or another.

I think there were about 800 applicants at the program I applied, too.

Ahhhh, I guess my lesson is patience! Yeah, right! This whole process has been an exercise in patience!

Good luck!
