Hi
I have heard mixed reviews regarding Sutter Hospitals. From strike nursing to high paying contingent nursing. Has anyone worked at Sutters as a traveler, strike nurse or contigent?
thank you

I am interested in applying there as a traveler. So glad to hear it's a good place to work. Any tips?

Wow, did things get weird there for a sec! haha I'm a traveler and am really getting over it because it's very stressful knowing they can cancel you for any reason (even if you don't give them one), but I digress. I worked at Sutter Roseville for about 6 years right out of school and loved it, until the last year or so, and we had great travelers when we had them. Sutter Delta was the worst, not because of the people, but because it was an ICU contract and they floated me every 4 hours (I wasn't in ICU more than 3 times in the 13 weeks). It was awful. That was the worst Sutter I've been to and like I said, the people were great (actually, the floor staff were WAY nicer than the ICU staff, but not enough to make up for the awfulness of having a new set of 4 patients every 4 hours). They tend to try to be sneaky, no matter where I've been, about floating, even where I am now (which is awful), but if you love your license, stick to the bloody contract and you will leave with it intact.
Best of luck!

I am currently on my 2nd extension/3rd contract with a Sutter facility in SF, and I absolutely love it. I work 12 hours shifts, and the permanent staff work 8's, so I overlap two shifts. I have a clause in my contract for max cancelled shifts, so when they have reached it, I work and get paid regardless of census.
