Has anyone worked or heard of Brightstar?

This is a company that operates many franchises all over. I applied this morning and literally within 4 hours I received phone calls from 3 different franchises in my area wanting to interview me. The first one asked me some questions over the phone and sent me info to have an in person interview on the 29th. That is great and all but they also sent me a huge checklist of things to have done before then, including a physical, TB test, and 12 hours of continuing education classes! Isn't that a bit much for not eve going to the first interview? Are they guaranteed to offer me a job? I'm not spending money to not to offered a job. Does anyone know anything about this company or have any experience with them?

Yes, that is a lot to ask before an interview. I would be leary too. I have applied for Brightstar in the past and haven't been asked to provide anything before the interview.

I guess they don't want any delays in the event they offer you a job, but that seems unrealistic.

I would tell them that you would prefer to do those things after the interview and if you're offered and accept the position.

Review EEOC disability guidelines. It is actually illegal for them to require a pre-employment physical. They can only ask you to have an exam once there has been a job offer. However, they can ask YOU if you meet all the essential functions of the job pre-employment.

I experienced the same thing only to learn even before the interview started that this is a Pay for Service. NOT an oasis service. Just private pay only. They DO not hire full time at all. Prn only

I have worked for several different BrightStar offices. Most positions are prn or part-time. I've never been asked to have anything done before an interview. My experience is the better the office staff, the easier your job will be. I continue to work for them to have different clinical experiences and if one location doesn't have any work for you, try another.

I had a bad experience with them back in September of 2012. A nurse, named ***(Name redacted per site ToS)***, posted a job online and I ansered it. She told me to call her the next day on her cell phone number. I had worked for 39 yrs and then retired but got bored and wanted to go back to work. The job was for billing medicaid and medicare. She interviewed me over the phone and then said someone would call me. She said she was going to send me something in the mail to sign and send back for a consent for them to do a background check. I never got it but I'm glad I didn't because she would have my ss #. Then she sent me an email with about 40 questions calling it a "behavioral interview". This took time to answer and email back to her my answers. Then she made me think I had the job and told me to go on a Friday to this place to get a drug test. Then the morning that I was suppose to go she emailed me saying "The tech is sick-no drug test today." I don't know why it took me so long to see the red flags, I guess because I hadn't looked for a job in so long. I emailed her and told her that this sounded like a scam and for her to call me or I'd report her to the police. Well, the next day-her phone number was disconnected and email address was gone.
