Has anyone taken the online CM cert. course at Canyon College?

I just started their online course this month. There are 5 modules that is spread over the course of one year. I have not taken the exam for the first module yet. :uhoh21:

I'm really interested on some feed back on taking this course since I have not seen this mentioned in any blogs.

Thank you

I just finished five courses online at AIHCP. It wasn't the best, but I was having a hard time getting a job in CM as I had no experience. Everyone wants experience! I thought this might help show I'm really dedicated to learning CM. I ended up with a certificate. I've had a couple job interviews and hope things work out. Good luck with your courses if you decide to continue.

Gee, what is "AIHCP"? How long did it take you to complete the course? Did you like it? Sorry to hear you are having some difficulty getting hired. Don't give up!

Go to http://www.aihcp.org and you can check out the Case Mgmt info they have and it will explain the courses they offer. I took these courses just to show I was REALLY interested in case mgmt versus just saying I was interested. I'm not sure why so many directors of CM act as if "it isn't easy, not everyone can do it, etc." Gosh, all that can be said for nursing too. We all have our challenges!!

I had an interview yesterday and they are checking references which I'm told is good. If they don't like you, they don't bother to go that far. Boy, I hope I get this job. It would mean the world to me. As hard of a worker as I am, I once had a very mean ex-boss who was asked "would you rehire her?" She told the person no and I never got the job. I called my ex-boss and she said, "I said no because I have no positions available now. Of course I would rehire you if I had a position" She was an evil person and knew exactly what she was doing, but since then it always makes me wonder if others could or would do the same, so references scare me!!!

Anyway, I'm a hard worker, always have been and am hoping for the best. Good luck on the courses if you decide to take them. You go at your own pace. The first four courses have multiple choice tests and the last is short answers. The last course took me a lot of time. I'm also going for my Masters and was working on it all at the same time. Very exhausting but it's doable. Good luck to you!!

I looked at the web site. Interesting, the instructor is the same person for the class I'm taking. Same format too. Anyway, I am enjoying the reading. Plan to take the first module exam next month.

Your ex-boss sounds like the supervisor over the dept I left. She gave nurses write ups for anything. She wrote me up for taking a morning off for an emergency even though a I went the proper channels. Guess what? After I left the dept she was promoted to director!!!

Were you hired to the position you interviewed for?

I just started working per diem in Urgent Care until I finish. Wow, now that's busy little place...Yeah, one year should do it:rolleyes:

Thanks for the info:wink2:

Not sure about the job I interviewed for yet. They're still checking references and two of three of them are on vacation until this week. It is just so hard to get into CM. I hope it works out. I think you'll like the courses! I now have lots of reference books to use IF I get this job!! Good luck!
