I honestly thought the HESI was harder than the NCLEX. I scored 1112 on the HESI. (our cut off was 900) I think if you passed the HESI then you will be fine on the NLCEX. Also... I took an online Kaplan course. I found that the Kaplan questions were similar to the real thing. I was SO nervous when I took my boards. I don't think there is anyway around not feeling that way. My advice would be to take a break when ever you start feeling anxious. Go to the bathroom, splash some cold water on your face if you need to, take some deep breaths to clear your head. If you can, go outside and get some fresh air. Then go back into the test KNOWING you CAN DO THIS!!
In the meantime... I would just practice taking questions. I have taken so many *practice* questions that I honestly can't remember which questions were *practice* and which were on the test.
Best of luck to you.
I actually took the Kaplan class back in January before I had even graduated nursing school. But now my qbank is expired. I do have two cds of Kaplan practice tests. Did it three times so far. First time I got a 59, second time, I got a 63, third time, I got a 62. My scores suck! Hope I still have enough time. My test date is July 1. I think after a break, i'm going to do another practice test.

I was just wondering, has anyone passed the Hesi graduation exam but did not pass the NCLEX first time? I myself have passed the Hesi on the first try with a score of 967 (cut off number is 850). Do you think if I used the same study method on the NCLEX it will work? What I basically did was do was read the hesi hints on my Hesi manual. Then I did all the case studies that my school provided us. And then I did Nclex practice questions. If I didn't know a specific question, then I would look it up either in my Hesi manual or online. And all the while, I just maintained a cautious but confident attitude. In fact the day before the Hesi, the only studying I did was go over lab values. The rest of the time I was watching the Olympics (I took the Hesi in February). My biggest problem right now though are my parents, especially my mom. She's the type of person who gets nervous very easily and does not know how to control it. I am trying really hard to not let her rub off on me. It was easy when I studied for the HESI because I was living in the dorms. In fact I didn't even tell my parents about the Hesi until I absolutely had to (two days before the HESI). So even if she were nervous she was unable to rub off on me because I wasn't home. This time however is different. I am living at home for the time being and taking the NCLEX near home. At home, my parents are more able to show how nervous they are. So far I am able to cope with it by not taking anything they say regarding the NCLEX to heart. They are not even in the medical field so they don't know anything about how it works (they just think they know). I'm just really afraid that sooner or later my parents' nervousness will rub off on me and make me do poorly on the real thing (right now I'm doing really well on the practice tests). If anyone has any advice, I appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
