Anyone heard of RES Medical Group. They called my looking for potential staffers and I was off. Another nurse, a friend who knew I was tossing about the idea of some agency work on the side, gave them my number and they left me a message. I thought Id look them up on the internet before I started answering their calls but I cant find anything. Has anyone heard of or worked for them?

I think you might have heard "RES" but in fact mean Aureus Medical Group.
This company frequently "cold calls" facilities and ask to speak with the agency and /or travel nurse... then will ask that particular nurse if they are looking for a new position - are happy with their current company....this is how I came to be contacted by them.
I find this a very unprofessional business tatic; taking someone away from patient care and the job that they were hired to do etc.
I spoke with them--- they do travel nursing, however when contract came the contract hourly amount was $10.00 less than quoted. When I asked for a new contract with correct amount ( I was thinking a typo) contract was suddenly withdrawn.
Other items discussed also seemed to be forgotten when it came time to be put into the contract-- company supplied housings/utilities suddenly there was a "co-pay" of $15.00 per hour for "rent and utilities" basic cable and local telephone were suddenly not included. Day one insurance now had a 30 day waiting period, and employee paid for total cost of policy.
I did not "go with this company" and told them exactly why I would not work for them. I have heard from other nurses about the cold calls and that this practice still continues. My experience with them is over the past three years. I still get telephone calls and emails even after I have repeatedly said no thank you please do no call me again...
While reading their website has the same information as most other travel agencies, please research carefully and watch the contract even more closely.
Thank you so much! Aureus, that makes more sense. I too thought that just calling the unit searching for staff was "fishy." I am a few months away from being ready for any agency nursing so I have time to do a little research. I certainly wont be using them thought. I appreciate your time! Thanks!

I have not heard of that agency but I get have received calls like that before. I agree calling people at work is too much- very intrusive. I recently researched some agencies, a few of my friends work for Nursefinders so that is who I signed up with and it has been going great. I get the shifts I want and am always paid on time.
Good luck!

I travelled for one asignment with Aureus. It was in fact my first and only travel assignment, maybe that's why I was so hasty in my decision and did not investigate a little more into the company. There were a few things that they were shady on but for a whole it was a decent experience.
