Hey everyone!
I was looking into starting an RN to BSN to MSN program. I am a new RN and was wanting to start my BSN in the fall and came across one of the masters programs... I was wondering if anyone had enrolled in anything like that and how labor intensive it was. The program says they will incorporate the masters courses in with the bsn completion.... just wondering if anyone had heard anything about them! Thanks!

I'm looking at one for my MSN but I will not recieve a BSN on completion - they only award the MSN when you are finished.
From the initial contact and with talking to others - I've been told the work progresses as you progress. It may not be as intense intially but more than likely will progress as I progress thru the program.
They have full/part time options and I will be doing the part time option because I have to continue to work. It adds another 16 or so months onto the program which I am OK with because I have to continue to work.
I've been told the more labor intensive portion comes during my clinical time because I have to be a bit more flexible as far as scheduling clinical time, etc....I've had several tell me they had to drop to part time status at work because there just wasn't enough time in a day to get it all done - but they didn't drop to part time status at work until their final rotation of just clinical time......so it wasn't the entire program.
The program is also all on line except for 2 sessions I will attend at the school.
Hope that helps!!!!

Make sure the schools you are looking at have accredidation and that your state will recognize the degree. Ive seen a few schools out there that do not have this. For me personally I would not go to a school that did not award me a BSN mid way through my MSN. This is because what if you had to drop out for some reason mid way, you might be left with nothing to show for all your hard work. Im currently in a BSN online program and love it. I find it takes up very little time in my day, just a few hours at night a few times a week. Having said that writing papers comes very easy for me. Ive found thats mostly what Im doing, writing papers! I havent reached my clinical protion yet but I imagine I will not be able to work full time when I am doing them. If you have found a school that will give you a straight shot to MSN and you know that you can put in that time Id go for it. Hope that helps!
