Just out of idle curiosity, does anyone remember the book, "Bed Number 10"? We had to read it in undergrad, and I kept it. I recently re-read it, and could not help but remember that, when we discussed it in school, and before we practiced as nurses, we thought the woman in the book was extremely whiny. As I re-read the book, I found that I was of the same opinion.
My question, has anyone else read this, and what are your thoughts? Please don't flame me, I can say honestly that I have never been sick to the point this woman was (she had Guillian Barre'), but I can not imagine expecting some of the things she expected to be done, with no more time than I or any other nurse ever had in the ICU. Just curious as to other opinions on this.

Yep, I had to read in in nursing school. Little did I realize that I would become an ICU nurse and deal with these types of patients every day.
I remember thinking that the lady was whiny too. I would be interested in reading it again. I would probably be even more annoyed then the first time I read it. I unfortunately gave my copy away after I was done with school.

Is it fiction? Is it a good book even if the pt. is whiny? Just wondering
Non fiction. It is written by a lady who had Gillian Barre and was on a vent for several weeks. She discribes how she felt powerless not being able to communicate and how she was treated by the staff.
Overall it was a good book.
